Abstract

This commentary analyses the doctrinal Note “Una caro” from the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, which highlights the juridical and theological value of marital fidelity and exclusivity. The note presents monogamy not merely as opposition to polygamy, but as a profound union involving total reciprocity between spouses. Drawing from biblical, philosophical, and magisterial sources, it emphasizes the essential property of unity in marriage as a unique and exclusive bond. The document explores the anthropological and personalist foundations of conjugal love, advocating for education in faithful, monogamous love as a response to contemporary cultural challenges.
